I both love and hate every September issue of fashion magazines....here's why:
I love September issues because they are chock full of glossy, colourful, vibrant, excessive fashion spreads and the advertisements that support them. Speaking of all the advertisements, let me just say, all of you that complain about the amount of ads and how many pages they occupy? You can't possibly be true beauty lovers. Those ads are exceptional works of art (in most cases). I actually rip them out and place them on my bulletin board. They provide inspiration and a little colour to my day. :) I love the fact that I pick these magazines up and feel like I may have just sprained a tricep (if I had one). I love that I can't wait to unfold the crisp pages and expose my eyes to the delicious buffet of clothing and accessories that await. And there are so many pages that it takes me hours to absorb and let marinate every detail. Then, when I am finally done, I am genuinely upset that there isn't more....which gets me thinking of next month's issue....and the reason why I also hate the September issue.
I hate that the September issue has 200-300 more pages than a regular issue of the magazine. Why can't I be served up my delicious, gluttonous helping of fashoin every single month? This is my solemn (and humble) plea to every fashion magazine editor and publisher - please try, try as you might, to produce an April issue just as thick, a June issue bursting with ads.......maybe I am addressing my plea to the wrong people. Maybe its the advertisers that I need to convince to spend just as much money for every issue? Although, I will never understand how they get so excited and spend so much money on fall? I personally get no enjoyment out of knowing that the weather is turning cold (although, I do love getting to wear my wool Missoni scarf), I dooooo get a million thrills when I see the Missoni bikinis coming out though. :)
So my final request to all the people in charge of fashion magazines - please, please, please make evert issue just as amazing as your September issue. Thank you in advance.
