A lot of people are knocking January Jones's Atelier Versace concoction from the Emmys. Let me tell you - I LOVED it! It was flashy, it was elegant, it was a little funky, it was a real choice/statement at least. I loved the texturing, the brilliant azure blue and even the asymmetrical hem. And she is such a classic beauty that I think she really gets away with it, she worked that dress instead of the dress working her. The only beef that I have, if you force me to make one...is the shoes. The sudden pop of black is too distracting. In my humble opinion, a strappy nude or gold sandal would have been far more appropriate. The shoes should hide behind this dress I think. She really was a peacock in the midst of pigeons...
On a carpet where dresses like Lauren Graham's Yigal Azrouel showed up, I think January should be praised for such a bold piece. At least the Versace spurs some controversy, some discussion, possibly differing opinions - but that's always interesting. Also, interesting was the Alexander McQueen that Anna Paquin wore....but lets be honest, we all love McQueen. Conversely, everyone can agree that the Azrouel was incredibly boring and just plain ill. Ooooooo, lets combine black and white, no one has thought of that before! Anyway, my point is, whether you liked the blue fantabulousness or not, at least January gave us some meat for our fashion debates.
